If you want to grow your own vegetables from seeds is essential to sow the seeds at the right time of the year to ensure healthy plants and a good crop. Most of the seeds packages have the sowing instructions on the back but the weather might not be proper to sow the seeds when they are supposed to. You can still sow the seeds indoor, under cover, in a greenhouse, if you are lucky enough to have one, or on a sunny windowsill. But not all the vegetables are suitable to be sown indoor and then transplanted outdoor. Some of them just need to be sown directly outside, in their final position, so you might have to wait until the weather is proper for sowing.
Here is a list with the most common grown vegetables and the right time to sow and plant them, if the weather allow it, month by month. Don't sow or plant out seedlings if the weather is bad, the soil is too cold or too wet to be dug, just because it is time to do it. Wait until the weather allow you to work your garden and don't worry if you plant you vegetables a week or two later, they will catch up. Just make sure you will offer them proper growing conditions, according to their necessities.
