Snapdragons are very hardy plants that can withstand a heavy frost and can endure cool weather. That is why they are widely planted for winter flower colors in mild-winter areas. In colder areas they will flower from spring to early summer but most varieties will also have a second bloom in fall. The gradual opening of the buds provides color for an extended period of time.
