Canna indica, (also known as Saka siri, Indian shot, canna, bandera, chancle, coyol, platanillo, canna lily) is a beautiful plant that makes an excellent center-piece for a sunny, sheltered border, great for every garden and a perfect choice for the exotic garden.

It has bright green or bronze, arching, large leaves, tapering into petioles and imposing spikes of gladiolus-like flowers that have beautiful and exotic colors from yellow to orange, pink or red, sometimes with spots or flames on it. They are hermaphrodite (have both male and female organs). The flowers appear in early summer and last until early autumn offering a beautiful spectacle of colors in the summer garden. The seeds ripen in mid autumn. It is also great as a pot plant, on the terrace, indoors or in the greenhouse.
